Mindful technique of soil and site preparation, expert eye for plant selection, and attention to detail when planting are key to success.

Layering for soil building include woodchips and compost

We’ve crafted a design, let’s get it built!

Soil is the key to success. If your soil health is depleted, we add quality organic amendments to bring life and fertility back.

Our designs narrow in on the best plant choice for the site. I pick every plant I use out personally. At a nursery, a keen eye is needed to spot the young plants that are in top health and most likely to succeed.

Earthworks, the preparatory step to move the earth in such a way that supports maximum rainwater infiltration, minimum erosion, and appealing presentation, all with as little excavation as possible. The importance of this step is often overlooked or overdone.

I take great care in precise placement for best coverage and health of each plant

The exact placing and planting of each individual plant matters. If you see me on-site on planting day, you will observe me spending a good amount of time tweaking the positions of the plants before they go in. I’m looking at their relative distance from one another and in my mind’s eye seeing how they will grow over time. I’m taking a step back, or going over to the kitchen window to make sure to make sure the views from the house and other areas of the property flow in a way that is cohesive and holistically sound. This is an expertise I too often see disregarded when a design is handed off to an independent company to install it, there is a disconnect and the land and plants aren’t given their best chance.
